Home / About

The name means watchfulness. That is the whole job.

Vigilia was founded by cyber security professionals who kept meeting the same school: good staff, ageing kit, a filtering contract nobody had reviewed in four years, and no one whose actual job was to watch it.

Enterprise-grade security, school-sized budgets

We spent years doing penetration testing and incident response for organisations that could afford a full security team. Schools face the same attackers with a fraction of the resources, and far more at stake when pupil data is involved.

Vigilia exists to close that gap. We took the tooling, the monitoring discipline and the testing rigour used in enterprise environments, and packaged them into a managed service a single-form-entry primary can actually afford, and that a multi-academy trust can standardise on.

Everything we build assumes a school day: no unannounced reboots at 9:05am, no upgrades during SATs week, no jargon in a report going to a governing body.

Our mission

To make enterprise-grade IT management and cyber security accessible to every school, giving staff the tools, expertise and evidence they need to protect pupils, data and teaching time against evolving threats.

  • Nursery, primary, secondary and MAT experience
  • Enhanced DBS checked engineers on every visit
  • Vendor-neutral advice, fixed transparent pricing
  • UK-based team, covering sites nationwide

Four things we will not compromise on

Precision & expertise

Manual testing and hands-on engineering by certified professionals, not an automated scan with a cover page. When we tell you something is a risk, we can show you exactly how it would be exploited.

School-first thinking

We start with your context, pupil numbers, budget cycle, safeguarding duties, the state of your building, before recommending anything. The right answer for a 60-pupil nursery is not the right answer for an 1,800-pupil secondary.

Current technology

Continuous investment in tooling and threat research, so the protection on your network reflects how attacks work this year, not how they worked when the contract was signed.

Certified & accountable

Recognised industry credentials, written SLAs, and a termly review where we are measured against them. If we miss a target, it is in the report before you have to ask.

Who is actually on your account

Schools are supported by named engineers who know your site, backed by a security team holding the certifications below. You will not be re-explaining your network every time you call.
